The Isle of Whithorn

Editor: Dorothy McIlwraith. Added: Wednesday, November 01, 2017.

What a super evening we had at Isle of Whithorn SWI when we had a visit from Kelly and Alan from Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes. Kelly explained about the organisation which was set up in 2015.  This is totally run by volunteers who even pay many of their own expenses. There are three types of volunteers, riders, fund raisers and controllers who all play their part in providing this amazing service which averages about 60 to 65 runs per month. Many of the volunteers do it as their way of repaying the NHS staff for their help in times of need and both Kelly and Alan shared their stories. Alan had braved the stormy weather to come on one of the bikes and members enjoyed seeing it – and trying it out!
